CEER-Sustainability Office Assistant
Job Summary:
The Sustainability Office Assistant is responsible for the operation and management of one of the Sustainability Projects within the Sustainability Office. Each project is comprised of student volunteers who will undertake a specific project relating to a subgroup of our campus population. The Assistant is responsible for oversight of the project to ensure that it is satisfactorily accomplished and to guide student education in that specific sustainability topic. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Creation of a project that aligns with the interests of a subgroup of our campus population
- Manage the project from creation to execution
- Recruit fellow students to join the project
- Educate the student body about the project
- Contribute to the culture of sustainability at SU
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Organizational skills
- Ability to research new concepts.
- Willingness to talk to others to promote their work.
- Prior knowledge about sustainability is strongly preferred but not required.

- Students will learn how to manage a team of fellow students
- How to take an idea from conception to execution.
- Effectively communicate complex information
- Create a vision and enact change.
- Learn about the complexity and interconnectedness of sustainability topics and the SU community.

On SU Campus
Education:
First Year, Sophomore, Junior. All Majors.
Experience
A passion for learning, enacting change, and sustainability are the only prerequisites required for this position.
Additional Requirements:
This position is paid $8.50 per hour, with an estimate of 5 hours weekly.
Physical Demand
- Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Position requires the ability to move about the campus.
- Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction.
- Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.
- Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending.
- Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Working conditions consist of both indoor and outdoor environments
