JCCE General Staffer
Job Summary:
The Summer Johnson Center General Staffer will play a crucial role in supporting our office operations and contributing to the development of innovative programs that enhance student engagement. Your responsibilities will include assisting in program creation, coordinating student engagement activities, and collaborating closely with community partners to address their needs. This is a temporary, non-benefit eligible, non-exempt position as defined by FLSA standards.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in general office upkeep and program creation.
- Assist in outreach to community partners, evaluating their needs and interests in working with Susquehanna University students and Partners.
- Organize student engagement opportunities, and act as a liaison to student clubs and organizations when it comes to interaction with the JCCE.
- Coordinate and assist with management of SU Orientation Leaders and volunteers to assist with SU GIVE and other orientation opportunities.
- Work closely with the Office of First Year Experience to help coordinate and market SU GIVE, other service-related events, and major orientation events.
- Develop digital marketing and social media tools and resources via platforms such as Canva to recruit and encourage student participation, spreading awareness of events.
- Communicate with the Offices such as Event Management, Facilities and ARAMARK, etc.
- Create document of accomplishments/transition report for future workers and coordinators to use as a reference.
- Develop reflection tools and resources for SPLASH and GIVE participants as well as surveys through various platforms.
- Perform other duties to contribute to the overall success of the Johnson Center for Civic Engagement.
- Act as a representative of Susquehanna University by supporting the school’s mission and goals in a responsible and ethical way.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to be highly organized and handle multiple priorities required.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, including community partners, Fraternity and Sorority life, SU staff, students and faculty.
- Must have strong writing skills.
- Knowledge and interest in topics related to community engagement and outreach, social science, environmental and global justice is preferred.
- Knowledge such as: social media management, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Graphic Design (desired, not required)
Learning Objectives:
- Learn event management and organizational skills.
- Learn supervision and communication skills.

Education
First year, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. All Majors
Experience
No experience required. Community outreach experience and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- This position pays $8.00 an hour with an estimated 6 hours of work per week.
- Perform other duties to contribute to the overall success of the Johnson Center for Civic Engagement.
