Job Summary
IT Student Technician
The Information Technology Student Technician reports to the Technology Support Specialists. This position will assist and learn from our professional staff in providing technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting campus events, and contributing to various IT projects.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide positive customer experience for technology support
- Provide classroom and event technical support
- Assist with audio, video, lighting, and rigging support for events; operating sound and light boards; and setup, troubleshooting, and teardown of equipment
- Assist in maintaining inventory of parts and equipment and perform routine checks
- Provide evening support for classrooms and general inquiries
- Provide back-up support to other members of the team in case of absence or work overload
- Computer support and maintenance
- Assisting with answering phone calls and emails as needed
- Troubleshooting Support requests and escalating as needed
- Forwarding service requests to the appropriate team
- Transferring equipment to and from storage locations
- Refreshing Lab and Classroom Computers
- Collaborate with professional staff on IT-related projects
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Exhibit good interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Learning Objectives
Develop a working knowledge of a wide range of audiovisual technology
Education
First Year, Sophomore, Junior, Senior. All Majors.

- Develop customer service skills
- No technology experience is required as on-the-job training is provided.
An interest in IT and/or audio-visual equipment, or theater technology is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- This position is paid $8.50 per hour, with an estimate of 20 hours weekly.
- IT provides merit wage increases at the start of the academic year. This increase is based on the student's workplace evaluation.
This position requires the ability to work flexible hours around your class schedule, with evening and weekend hours available.
