4-H Assistant - Snyder County

Support the 4-H programs within Snyder County. The individual will work with the 4-H Educator in maintaining and expanding the 4-H program in the county through a variety of programs.  

The 4-H Assistant must be Federal Word Study eligible.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and evaluate age appropriate 4-H events, activities and projects with youth at local, area and state 4-H events, as well as various day camps and overnight camps.
  • Monitor children and be responsible for the whereabouts, supervision, and safety of all children registered for the program.
  • Participate in regional or state events as appropriate.
  • Provide support at traditional 4-H events by recording registration, chaperoning, conducting workshops and assisting with the management of shows and contests.
  • Write news releases, social media posts and assist with general marketing to increase public awareness and participation.
  • Assist with survey data entry as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff in planning and conducting programs, activities, and other special events.
  • Assist the Educator in reaching new audiences in accordance with Penn State University Affirmative Action Policy.
  • Establish and maintain files.
  • Complete monthly reports of time, contacts and impacts.

Education

First Year, Sophomore, Junior, Senior. All Majors.

Experience

No experience required. 

Location

This position is located at 713 Bridge St. Selinsgrove PA 17870, with remote work that can be done on SU campus. 

Additional Requirements

  • This position is paid $7.25 per hour, with an estimate of 10 hours weekly, varying based on student availability.
  • The 4-H Assistant must be Federal Word Study eligible.

Physical Demand

  • Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.  
  • Position requires the ability to move about the campus.  
  • Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. 
  • Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.  
  • Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. 
  • Position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to plan and teach activities and educational programs.

  • Working conditions are indoors and outdoors.
