AMPLIFY-Education Department Marketing Intern-Susquehanna Valley United Way

Job Summary 

Susquehanna Valley United Way is seeking a dynamic and motivated Marketing Intern to join our education department team. The intern will support the education department in various functions, gaining valuable experience and insight into the workings of a non-profit. This role is ideal for someone looking to start their career in marketing, offering hands-on experience and opportunities for growth.

The United Way fights for the Health, Educational, and Financial Stability of every person in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties. We do this by addressing the root causes of social issues and serving as a leader, partner, and catalyst to identify and address areas of need by engaging communities to develop long-term social change.

Specific Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Management:

  • Develop engaging content for social media platforms, website, and email campaigns specific to the education department.
  • Assist in writing and designing marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and newsletters.

Social Media and Digital Marketing:

  • Schedule and monitor social media posts
  • Engage with the online community, responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
  • Track and report on social media and website analytics to measure the success of marketing efforts.

Campaign Support:

  • Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns to promote the education department
  • Help organize and coordinate virtual and in-person events aimed at program outreach.
  • Support the creation and distribution of promotional materials for events and campaigns.

Research and Analysis:

  • Analyze data and feedback to inform and improve marketing strategies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on research findings.

Community Outreach:

  • Support outreach efforts to increase program participation and awareness.
  • Participate in community events and activities to promote the Home Visiting Program.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain marketing databases and contact lists.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to marketing and outreach.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools. 
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Passion for supporting families and children

Learning Objectives

Social Media Management

Objective: Enhance the education department’s social media presence.

Goals:

  • Increase social media followers by 10% across all platforms within three months.
  • Achieve an average engagement rate of 5% on social media posts.
  • Schedule and publish at least 3 posts per week on Facebook.

Content Creation

Objective: Develop engaging content for various programming

Goals:

  • Create event flyers
  • Create 10 graphics or visual content pieces for social media each month.

Event Planning and Support

Objective: Assist in the planning and execution of all events.

Goals:

  • Help organize at least 9 virtual or physical events during the internship.
  • Manage event promotion through various channels, achieving a 20% increase in attendance compared to previous similar events.
  • Collect and analyze event feedback, presenting a post-event report with actionable insights.

Education

First year, Sophomore, Juniors and Seniors. 

All Majors. Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred. 

Experience

No experience required. 

Location

This position consists of a combination of onsite work at Susquehanna Valley United Way and remote work which can be completed on SU campus.

Additional Requirements

  • This position is paid $11.00/hour with an estimated 8 hours weekly.
